I know that most of you would rather spend all your free time on Car Blogs or asking how many people want to play old driving games or asking if I should buy this 1873 Mercedes, (for which you have no intention of buying). But there are a few folks here who really have some kind or cerebral capacity beyond that.

Have you spent any time on Sploid? It fits the mindset of most of us perfectly. Not a lot of new stuff every day, similar to Truck Yeah, but if you go there every 4-5 days, you will be amazed at what they come up with. Here is one for most of you anal fuckers. Watch it, love it. Yeah, I'm done.

I love me some good machining porn but I (and I'm fairly sure many others) avoid Sploid like the plague because that whole sub-blog is just entirely too sensationalist to me. I also often get the impression that they don't even really understand a lot of what they post about* (for the stuff that I see shared to Jalopnik, at least).

I'll read the opening paragraph that is shown on the Jalopnik homepage, or realize that it's a post from Jesus Diaz, who I (and again, many others) can't stand and just forego clicking through.

That style of article, if I can even call it that, is why I quit reading Gizmodo quite a while ago and why I don't indulge in any Gawker sites beside Jalopnik and the occasional Lifehacker post.

*eg. "4,000 Newton meters of torque". Yeah, wow, great, that's a nice figure but he's given me no context, meaning or basis for comparison; he's just impressed by the big number and the fancy units. I'd like something more that a shiny bit of metal and meaningless words with my video, thanks.

/rant, sorry.

Understandable. I do sometimes feel the same. By going there every 4-5 days, I can cherry pick what I want to read. Article writing and quality are often not inclusive. Your rant is really just a brief glimpse into the reality of journalism these days.
